Boy's hair clips

I was inspired to make boy's hair clips because of my grandson. He was born with such lovely hair that it is a waist to cut it off. It was strange for me at first seeing him with long hair. I was asking my daughter when she was going to take him for a hair cut. She told me she wasn't so I quit telling after some time and started to live with seeing him having long hair. At first she was cutting his fringe because it was always in his eyes but now she wants to grow it for him, that was when we decided to make boy's clips. We tried to make the clips of the animals or stuff he likes. He definitely likes the bees and we haven't shown him the other new ones yet. They take awhile to make and they are fiddly when it is handmade. I together with my daughter made them out of felt and embroidery thread. Here are our creations. Once you start making them you become to be more creative.

Mrs Santa

Since it is close to Christmas, my youngest daughter wanted me to make her Mr and Mrs Santa. I searched and searched and couldn't find what I like. On revelry.com I found a nice Mr and Mrs Santa but the lady didn't make them available. A week or two after I searched, someone posted on facebook that Sue Pendleton had them available so that is where I got the pattern from. The pattern is different to what I am used to and when I had a read through I kind of gave up. At the end I thought I would give it a go and here it is Mrs Santa. I started Mr Santa when it's done I will show you. I had a ball of chenille that one of my daughters gave me last Christmas and I found use of it now. I did all the edging of the apron the skirt and on her boots. The ears came very good and very easy to make.  Sue Pendleton did such a good job of them, I love how she did the hair, the mouth, and most of it. It never comes exactly like the picture I will never know why. I think she might look better with eye lashes. I added grey to the hair I thought it will look good. The apron is easy to make and the dress.

Amigurumi mermaid

Amigurumi mermaid, how this came about is my youngest daughter's friend had a baby girl and she ordered me to make her a mermaid. I searched for a nice pattern similar to what she liked and I came up with this one. I  slightly made her a larger head. My daughter doesn't want me to make her a mouth. It didn't take too long to make except for the hair part. I embroidered the eyes since it is for a baby. I like it how it turned up.The tail looks great. What I would change if I had to make another one is, I would make the top part longer so the bra fits nicer. Didn't put a rattle in it too.

More headbands

I tried to make these headbands to take part in a market stall so I will have different kinds of stuff to sell. I did terrible but I don't think it was because my work was bad, it is because not many people turned up. I think this market is not very well known. To go where there are lots of people I need to have to pay public liability certificate. I don't think I have many things to sell yet at a big market. The other problem is that the toys with safety eyes are not good to sell either which I have many of those already. I think I have to come up with different things made of crochet since I like to crochet. These headbands I just saw a picture and I tried my own so no patterns sorry. Here are the pictures.

Boys Hair Clips

Another new thing we have on Etsy now. Since my grandson has long hair, we just thought of boys with long hair. We came up with this design but we have more coming up. Here you can see our designs and creations for boys hair clips. They are funky and colourful. Amazing for boys long hair. We love crafting so we are always thinking and coming up with ideas. Here is our etsy page for these. They are copy right so please respect our wishes.

Humpty Dumpty

I made this Humpty Dumpty my own pattern which I will try it out again. I searched and searched for a nice pattern and I found an excellent one at crochet creation by Alison. I msg her on facebook and she replied that she doesn't have the pattern yet that she will get back to it when she has time. it was late for me so I tried it out I unpicked 6 times in making the body I didn't even like the last one but I thought I would see how it finishes up. I was satisfied with the body at the end. I attached all the pieces which were many and made the hair. What I found hard is the eye brows and the white in the eyes. I tried different ideas for the eyes and at the end I made the ball separate and white on top. I could have done just the black and let the white show from underneath but I had trouble attaching the black thing.I also put a rattle inside. I am happy with the result at the end.

My second try of making a doll

I almost succeeded in writing the pattern for this doll. I need to write the head and the hat. I tried making bigger head but I think it doesn't look that cute. So I will make a smaller head and hat. The dress is also a little wider I think it looks nicer. So I still need a little work on this doll but at least I have a lot done for the pattern. I used less lines because the doll is small and I think maybe it looks better. The hair is also different. I used just a strand of wool for the first doll I untwisted one peace of wool into four peaces. the last one I left the wool as it was. I wanted to experiment and see which one will be cuter. I think the first one has better head, hat and hair. Here is the photo of them.

My daughter's creative bee

This is how this bee came about. My daughter drew some bees because she is an artist. Not a famous one but she can draw and paint more then me. Anyway she came to me and asked me which one I liked and I told her I liked a few not just one. This particular one somehow I wanted to give it a go so I did. I tried to write the pattern as I go but when I unpick I loose the place. I feel like quitting on that idea of writing my own pattern but you should never give up. The wings were tricky I made  three wings and I finally decided on this one that I used. The legs gave me trouble I couldn't fit the wire in because the way I do wire is a little bit of polyester filling around the ends and tape it for safety around who ever touches it. I love the colours yellow and black but I find it hard to work with dark colours at nights even though I have stronger lights on. Anyway here it is

Hairpins for boys

My grandson has long hair so I hate it when his hair is covering his eyes. So my daughter thought we should make him some hairpins for boys. She made him two like robots, trucks and more. I made him this one of course it was her idea inspired from somewhere.I can't show you her hairpins because she gave them away.

Russian designer doll

I have been wanted to make one of this Russian designer lady. The problem was her patterns are written in Russian language. After asking and commenting many times if I could get her pattern in English to no success, I decided to buy her pattern anyway. It looked like Greek writing to me, I tried google translation each paragraph and voila there was something written in English. I decided to give it a go. I got a bit of problem along the way but I did what I thought was right. They must have lots of variations that means the same sometimes. I still wish the patterns were in English. I did brown hair instead of purple because I didn't have the colour yarn then and I wanted to start on it, it is like me being impatient to start on it. I enjoyed making it. It is a fairly large doll. I added straps to her shoes because it wouldn't stay on. I also added Velcro on the jacket instead of buttons. I would prefer buttons next time it is neater. The rest is like the pattern. A young girl would be very happy with a doll like this one.

Lala-Oopsie doll

I started this few months ago and I wanted to finish what I started, this is also one of them. I stopped making it after I joined her up. I started different colour of hair and I wasn't sure of it so that is why I stopped. I didn't think it was going to look good so I always have a reason why I stop finishing them. I started on a dress pattern from Amigurumi BB and I changed it a little. I think red looks good for a dress with black trimming. I wanted to making striking colour for hair so I went for strong yellow. I would have finished it differently if I kept going on it few months back even though I looked at so many dolls for inspirations. I kind of made her hair like a blonde doll with a red ribbon but her dress is completely different than that doll. For the boots I also looked at another doll just to try it out. If you guys would like this doll it is from Amigurumi BB which I thank her so much for the patterns.

AmigurumiBB doll, my version

I made this doll from Vanja's patterns She made this doll very recent and she shared it for free isn't she the most generous, creative, kindest person in the world? I have been looking to make a doll that has moving hands and feet. I almost gave up and then I just saw this pattern.I had to make it. I had made a material doll with some help long time ago. I knew you attach something in the shoulders and thighs. I forgot how we did it but Vanja explains and shows photos how it's done. I changed the hand and did fingers. I like it to look as real as possible and kept going with her pattern I unpicked many times to continue with her rows but I managed at the end. The hair took a long time I split the wool into three strands and then insert it in each hole which seems forever. I don't know where this patience came from. I had trouble making the top so I made the dress myself making sure it fitted the doll. My daughter wanted me to make her lips so I tried. I think pink would have been better then red. I can draw good eyes but embroidering  them is another thing. I still have to make shoes and an apron so the dress is not too plain i will add the photo when it is all done. I will make a male doll. Some pictures for you to see.

Red haired doll

The head of this doll is one of the spheres I had made, I can't wait to use them all. I had made two similar to this one before. I used the body from Amigurumi Bb dolls. She is an awesome lady. She shares many of her free patterns and she allows you to add or change to them as we please. I like her dress and shoes. I still need more practice about this type of hair. I like Amigurumi BB dolls better the head are much nicer. I have another idea of making hair. See the way I find things out is searching for the thing I want and I find something better. I know another method which takes a lot of time so I don't bother with it.

Shaggy gorilla

I made this orangutan from the book Edward's Menagerie. My youngest daughter gave it to me for Christmas. She also wanted me to make this for her. I will make another one with a plain color wool. It was challenging as you had to concentrate about what you are doing all the time but I managed. It said it was level three. You should give it a try if you like it like me.

large doll

I made this from Bbs amigurumi easy to follow pattern. It is a free pattern. I want to try more of her patterns.
It was fairly easy to do I added nose, ears and eyebrows. I used two yarns because I wanted it to be big. There is nothing to sew but I did. I sewed the hands. I hope one of my girls will have a girl to give it to her. I bought girl clothes for the doll which she will want if she has a girl. lol
