Crochet coat/cardigan, and skirts

I made this lovely coat /cardigan whatever you want to call it. I found the cardigan on pinterest.com. There is a video tutorial for it. It looks hard but you will get the hang of it. I love how mine turned out that I had an idea to make skirts that style. I will include them here. The worst part is that you have to work in, all your tails from all the different colours you use. The size of my coat is a newborn. I would like to make a bigger one but I have no grand daughters. My coat is still without buttons I have bought them I just need to sew them on.

Handmade rope baskets

I tried rope baskets before this is my forth basket. I made this for my eldest daughter. She picked the colours. It is made of nylon materials so it is washable when dirty. it takes awhile to made and you need to use strength pulling the strings every stitch. As I was making it I learnt a way how so I kept all the way that way. I made another one and it looks neater using the last technic that I learnt. The black and white it very stiff cause it is worked hard and tight, the other white one is slightly softer. You need a hook as well to make these baskets. There is a lady that has two videos on how to make these on you tube.  Here are the two baskets.  The photo came a bit wonky but the finished product is good.

Red crochet angel

I wanted to try out an angel. I saw many nice ones on pinterest. The patterns that I found nice are for sale but I am afraid that I won't understand their way of stitching and directions. I found this angel and it was a free pattern I would make hands if I make another one and wings at the back. I usually am curious how it is made and still to one only. If you read the post before this one this is why I wanted to make starch and see if it works. I wanted to use it on this angel. It worked great even his halo has been starched but not his head and neck. It dries out within a day and night.

Starched old doilies

I wanted to see if the starch works to stiffen things. I found these old doilies that I had from years ago and I tried them out. I first went on you tube to see how they starch stuff. They use only water and corn starch which they boil till it become somewhat clear and thicker. When it cools down you dunk the doilies in that solution and sqeeze as much out as possible.Cover with glad wrap over a shaped bowl that you like and put the doily on it and shape it nicely, as it will dry out that way. There are different stiffener that you can choose I like this type.
